Building versus un-building/ constructing versus deconstructing, the words are closely related, not separable yet understood as opposite forces. Building and un-building are fundamental in the meaning and in the act of creation as well as the essence for change. Pablo Picasso in a famous quote: “Every act of creation is first an act of destruction” further opens the importance of the undoing, underlines the process and creative act in it. While in Picasso’s quote, “destruction” has a mostly metaphorical meaning as in the destruction of values and ideas, the work in un- building the discarded starts with a literal de-construction/ un-building or destruction of actual objects that had significant meaning at some point in time.
